Is this the biggest pizza ever?
Each year as a family, we love to visit San Antonio. It is a fairly short drive from our home near Houston. The sparkly Christmas lights hung all throughout the trees over the Riverwalk is our favorite part. Before we had kids, Andy and I could walk all night along the Riverwalk. The lights can be seen from the day after Thanksgiving through just after the new year. Since we can’t drive nearly 3 hours just to spend time on the Riverwalk as a family, we have found other special places to visit throughout the years.
Pizza is a favorite meal for 5 out of the 6 of us! I mean, come on, who doesn’t like pizza, right? Well, our second son, Anson, doesn’t like pizza. Besides him, everyone likes pizza. Big Lou’s Pizza is known for it’s large sized pizzas. It was an obvious choice to stop one year to check it out on our way home. The pizza did not disappoint! It was so yummy! It instantly became a must stop on our way home each year from San Antonio.
The first time we stopped, we only got the 20 inch pizza since there were so few in our family. As our family grew, so did our pizza size! This last trip to San Antonio we had friends with us, so we went for it with the 42 inch pizza! You can choose toppings split into the quarters. We had 4 different topping sets! The pizza had a total of 16 very long slices! They even had unique, long silver plates for us since traditional round plates would never had worked.
While it was fun to see the HUGE 42 inch pizza arrive at our table, we had to wonder what would it be like to order the even larger pizza offered at Big Lou’s? They can make a 62 inch pizza! I guess we will have to order it one day to check it out! How many people would we need to bring with us to make it worth ordering the largest pizza we have ever seen?
While Big Lou’s Pizza isn’t in the main downtown portion of San Antonio near the Riverwalk, it definitely is worth a little bit of extra driving to experience these large, Texas sized pizzas! Everything is bigger in Texas, right? See our post about the humongous 3 pound cinnamon roll here!
Big Lou’s Pizza has been featured in a couple shows about their large pizza size! Both Man vs. Food and Ginormous Food shows have featured Big Lou’s for their pizza!
