Summer time reading has always been a favorite of mine! Days where you can get so lost in a book that hours have passed by. Reading swinging ever so slowly in a hammock is the perfect summer day. My own boys enjoy reading on the trampoline.

This book review is a guest review written by the sweetest neighbor friend of ours, Kaylee. She truly enjoys a good book and I’m sure she has read a good amount of books already this summer. When I asked her if she would like to read our review copy of Marigold Star and write up a review of the book, she was very eager to start reading! Kaylee is 11 years old and about to start her 6th grade year. She found the book very relateable to her current age.

Here is what Kaylee had to say about this book:

Marigold Star is a bold character from Brambly-Crumbly who lets her light shine. Literally. She was born with a star above her head, and everyone says that it means that she is destined for greatness. Except the only thing she is reputable for is making friends. Going into middle school, I am able to take Marigold’s advice and make new friends along the bumpy road to growing up. She is transported to the human world, and has to make friends with a bratty girl named Winnie, who decides that she doesn’t want friends. When Winnie is captured by The Super Scary Shadow Boy to become his playmate, Marigold assembles a team of friends who save Winnie and befriend the shadow boy. Overall, this book was one of my favorites because the characters were truly relateable and kept my attention throughout the entire book. The illustrations were very whimsical and Winnie’s temper kept me laughing. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for an interesting read. -Kaylee, age 11
