Alpha Omega Family Adventures was hosted by Lakeview Putt and Play. This does not affect the opinions shared. All opinions are our own.

Very recently, our family started watched the miniature golf competition show Holey Moley. If you haven’t watched it yet, I would recommend it as a light, family funny show to watch. The boys are very interested in watching this show. While we were watching it, we realized that we have never brought the 3 younger boys to play mini golf. We had taken Aiden one time to an indoor mini golf. There really aren’t any outdoor putt putt places near us. Once we decided our itinerary for our 10 States in 10 Days Road Trip and knew we would have a little extra time in the Asheville, NC area, we thought a family putt putt day would be perfect! The weather in Asheville is beautiful compared to our hometown of Houston which is known for hot and muggy extended summers.

Lakeview Putt & Play graciously hosted our family for a round of putt putt and as a bonus, we got to experience their VR rooms! I don’t even need to tell you how excited the boys were, I bet you could imagine!

Located in Arden, NC, just south of Asheville and on the banks of Lake Julian is Lakeview Putt & Play. Upon arriving, you’ll soon realize how cozy this place is. You’ll be greeted at their windows, fitted with plexi sneeze shields, where you’ll choose your fun between putt putt or VR. Then, choose your golf ball color and start the course!

The mini golf course starts up on the hill and winds down around the building towards the lake. It even includes the longest putt, just over 100 feet, in Western North Carolina. The last 9 holes have views of the lake. This course is filled with unique, tricky holes! Some holes have water features, tunnel shortcuts, and difficult turns. One hole even included a ramp with a jump to the green. I’ll be honest, when we first arrived, a couple of my boys were disappointed that there weren’t the huge obstacles like windmills with moving blades or similar obstacles seen on Holey Moley, but we quickly realized that this course was perfect for our inexperienced players! Let’s just say many holes were counted as a par 6 and took many more putts to get it in the hole. Our family only ended up with a single hole in one that was actually a result of a ball bouncing off one of the boys into the hole! Daddy was our winner of the putt putt! To see more of this fun course, check out this video by Brooks Holt on YouTube to see the course played. For COVID safety reasons, Lakeview has removed the flags from each hole on the course. There are two buckets at the end of hole #18. One for the golf balls and one for the golf clubs to get sanitized before being put back into the rotation.

After we finished our golfing fun, we headed inside to experience the VR booths. Because the booths were arranged in individual rooms, as opposed to a large open room, they were allowed to open once North Carolina businesses were reopened. Each of the boys got to try out a few games. There were so many to choose from! Anson and Aaron both chose a baseball simulation game. Daddy chose a Creed boxing game and got a workout! Prior to participating in any VR games, hands needed to be sanitized. A cool, superheroesque mask was fitted on under the VR headset to keep germs at bay. Between each player, the entire VR equipment handles and headsets were completely sanitized. We could’ve played VR the rest of the day and never would’ve gotten bored!

Lakeview Putt & Play has a snack counter available with popcorn, sodas, and ice cream. They even carry a signature flavor called “Hole in One” created just for them by The Hop, a local ice cream creamery. When you plan your visit here, make sure you include a scoop of this delicious ice cream!

Besides putt putt and VR gaming, Lakeview also offers summer camps, birthday parties, and tournaments. Each summer camp is limited to 10 campers and fun activities like wacky golf are included. Tournaments and fundraisers can also be designed with each individual needs met.

Our family truly had an amazing time playing mini golf and VR games together. We got a special chance to get to know the owner and we truly felt welcomed like part of a small town family. As we waited for each of the boys to take their VR turns, we were able to see how each new family that showed up to play was treated as sweetly as we were. We found out that even pets are welcomed on the course! Lakeview Putt & Play is a one of kind, memorable place to visit. Check out their website for more information here.
