Now that it is summer and kids are out of school, are they bored yet? Are they constantly asking you to play their electronics? If they are anything like my boys, I know they are! We have a set time allowance our boys are allowed on electronics. We have them do a few pages of learning in the morning before we start our day. After that they are on their own to entertain themselves. I don’t know about you, but I love when we find something that keeps their interest and attention for a good portion of the day. If you are looking for something like that, keep reading because Kibo the Robot might be perfect! If you have never heard of Kibo, check it out here!

We had the chance to have a Kibo 21 Robot Kit in our home for a month to try it out. Included with our trial was a free throw extension kit, marker extension set, and building brick extension set. My boys ranging from 3-10 all truly enjoyed playing with it.

Kibo comes with a set of blocks with different commands such as stop, turn right, flash light, spin, etc. At first they just enjoyed putting different patterns together for Kibo. After that, they found the recorder option that can record 3 different phrases at a time. The last funciton they tested out turned out to be their favorite! Kibo can color! We took our huge watercolor papers and placed them on the ground and helped Kibo place the marker in it’s holder.

STEM/STEAM toys are the way to go with toys. Keeping kids engaged and learning, all while having fun. In my opinion, children learn best when they are fully engaged and enjoying what they are doing. Aiden, my oldest, had taken a coding class last summer where he learned to code games online. He enjoyed the class, but not near as much as he enjoyed Kibo!

We found Kibo to be made with high quality products that will last. Something that is important to me is that a toy that comes with many, many parts needs to also come in packaging that can hold all the pieces! Kibo’s packaging is perfect and each piece has a perfect spot to stay.

There are four main reasons Kibo was designed for younger learners according to KinderLab Robotics:

  1. Reduces the achievement gap
  2. The demand for STEM education is growing
  3. Research recommends introducing STEM in early childhood, but most programs focus on older kids
  4. Efficacy proven in 20 years of research
They spread over the office and entryway coding and playing with Kibo

Kibo truly is a one-of-a-kind screen-free toy! It is a fun way to teach kids to code and interact with robots. For more information or to purchase your own Kibo, go to https://kinderlabrobotics.com/.
