Alpha Omega Family Adventures was hosted by The Dr. Seuss Experience. This does not affect the opinions shared. All opinions are our own.

Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away! You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who’ll decide where to go.”

If you identified who said this right away, then you must plan a visit to The Dr. Seuss Experience that has come to Houston for a few months! The show just opened May 15th and will be in town until August 15th at the George R. Brown Convention Center! This experience first opened in 2019 in Toronto and was quite successful! The Dr. Seuss Experience was created and designed by Kilburn Live in hopes of promoting and encouraging literacy through these experiences to further develop children’s imaginations.

This experience is a one of a kind way to experience the most iconic Dr. Seuss books starting with Oh the Places You’ll Go to The Lorax to The Cat in the Hat and so many more! There is a room dedicated to nine of the most popular Seuss books. Each room has different, engaging activities to explore Dr. Seuss. The Lorax forest has swings to enjoy. There’s a Wocket in My Pocket room was one of our favorites! The Bofa on the sofa was reading the story with all the different creatures hidden around the room for us to find! Once we found all the creatures, I thought we could move on to another room. Once we had visited all the rooms, my boys asked to go back to this room to look for the creatures again!

My favorite room was the Horton Hears a Who room. The Truffula trees are so sweet! It reminded me of wandering through a magical meadow with tiny pink trees! Such a whimsical room. The goal of this room is to find the Who’s by asking each tree “Are you there?” When you find them, they will answer, “We are here!” Unfortunately, we never found the Who’s since my boys gave up pretty quickly!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas room was also another favorite of ours! It is decorated magically for Christmas. One of the activities in this room was to “fish” for presents. My boys really enjoyed fishing and were pretty successful! The Seuss Experience helper asked if the boys wanted to have a battle by splitting into teams to see who could catch the most presents. We split the teams with Aiden and Adler (oldest and youngest) vs. Anson and Aaron (middle two). The winners were Aiden and Adler! I tried out fishing for presents. I got one present on my first try! Then, I couldn’t catch anymore! It was a little tricky. My kids could’ve stayed in this room all day competing, but we decided to move on and let other families enjoy this room too!

Overall, I think this experience is a very unique type of event. It is indoors, so it is a perfect activity for the hot, humid summers in Houston! It is designed for all ages, but I think it is most ideal for 10 and under. My oldest, who is 12, enjoyed parts of the experience, but I think some of his pre-teen ‘I’m too cool for this’ came out in some of the rooms. My youngest two boys – ages 4 and 7 – enjoyed it the most!

Ticket prices vary depending on the day, but start at $23. For more information and to purchase tickets, go HERE! Many days are already sold out! If you aren’t local to Houston, I would continue to check the website for announcements of future locations. If I had to guess, I would assume there will be other locations after Houston is over!

With the Dr. Seuss Experience located in George R. Brown, visiting Discovery Green at the same time would make for a fun day! My boys wanted to check out the new playground at Discovery Green after we went through the exhibit, unfortunately though we didn’t have time.
